At Green Community Initiatives (GCI), we are proud to have completed the construction of a new Menstrual Health and Hygiene facility at Imenya Secondary School in Shinyanga.
- This project was implemented under the My Healthy Project, with support from Friends of Tanzania (FOT).
The facility has four private rooms, running water, handwashing points, and safe disposal systems. It gives girls a safe and dignified space to manage their periods at school.
Beyond the building, we also distributed reusable sanitary pads and conducted training for 582 girls, 4 female teachers, 180 boys, 9 male teachers, and 34 parents on child protection, GBV, and VAWC prevention.
The impact is already clear. Girls report reduced costs for families and increased confidence to attend school even during menstruation.
Our special thanks should go to our beloved partner "Friends of Tanzania (FOT)" for making this possible.
Together we are keeping girls in school with dignity.
