SAUTI YA MWANAMKE NA MTOTO Project

In the strive to achieve organizational goal GCI has implemented interventions in Shinyanga Municipality on child rights protection and promotion, women and girl’s empowerment, support for youth, people with disability, people living with HIV/AIDS and elderly people by using members’ contribution. Due to limited financial resources, GCI used community-based platforms to implement ‘SAUTI YA MWANAMKE NA MTOTO Project's such as existing community groups, normal local gatherings, schools, radio talks “VIJIWE VYA KAHAWA”. The projects targeted at empowering and amplifying voices of adolescent girls, children and women through engaging men to empower them with sexual and reproductive health and rights knowledge and skills and equip them with tactics on how to fight against gender-based violence and violence against children. 

From October, 2020 to December, 2021, GCI has directly reached more than 150 women, 75 school going adolescent girls, 370 men and indirectly reached approximately 750 community members (230 men, 300 women, 105 boy children and 115 girl children). On average, there is an increase VAC and GBV cases disclosure to the responsible authorities like police gender and children desk, local government leaders, reduced school girls’ pregnancy cases in one secondary and one primary school reached through MSICHANA AMKA Project as compared to 10 previous cases and 2 current cases.
