Msichana Amka Project

Our Journey to Msichana Amka Project (November 09, 2020 to November 20, 2024).

Once upon a time, in November 2020, a special project named Msichana Amka began its journey in Shinyanga Municipality. It was like a guiding light, focusing on three wards: Kambarage, Ndala, and Masekelo. But this project wasn't just any project; it was all about lifting up girls, adolescent girls, and young women. They aimed to give these amazing young ladies something super important skills about their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). They also wanted to make sure everyone knew how to fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and prevent new HIV infections.

The main goal of our Msichana Amka Project was to make adolescent girls and young women feel strong and confident by teaching them lots of cool stuff about SRHR. We talked about really important things like how our bodies work, being fair to everyone, and ways to prevent HIV/AIDS. We did this through fun workshops, exciting seminars, school short session, campaigns that showed how awesome learning can be! We talked with girls in school and those outside too, making sure everyone got to join in.

As we marched forward with our project, we faced some tough moments. There were times when we didn't have enough resources to smoothly operate the project. But guess what? Even with those challenges, we've seen some incredible changes in the community! Over 1360 amazing girls and young women learned so much from 2020 to 2023. They became more confident, learned how to make smart choices, and understood things better. And you know what's even cooler? By the time November 2024 rolls around, we're planning to reach and help more than 800 more fantastic individuals! We're on a journey to make sure everyone has the power to shine bright in Shinyanga!
