About GCI

Welcome to Green Community Initiatives (GCI)

Green Community Initiatives (GCI) is the Non-Governmental Organization registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act number 24 of 2002 as amended from time to time and issued registration Certificate with registration number 00NGO/R/1265 on 20th August 2020 with a mandate to operate in Tanzania Mainland. GCI is headquartered in Shinyanga Municipality, Shinyanga Region, Tanzania with strategic sub offices in Kigoma, Simiyu and Geita Regions

GCI is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious and non-partisan organization that exists to promote, support and defend rights of all children, youths, women, people living with HIV/AIDS and people with disability, alleviate poverty and hence tackle all socio-economic challenges through collective efforts with the community, stakeholders and other development actors. GCI members noted that Tanzanian community is facing several critical challenges that include gender-based violence, violence against children, high unemployment rate, HIV/AIDS infection, declining educational and health services standards, poor living conditions, and exclusion of people with disability and other disadvantaged groups in the community and hence realization of the establishment of Green Community Initiatives geared at addressing these social, economic and cultural challenges.

What We Do
